Kupwara: The Journalists and Writers’ Association Kupwara (JWAK) has issued a strong condemnation of the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 27 civilians and left nearly 30 others injured. The organization has called the act “outrageous” and a direct assault on the values of humanity.
In an official statement, the JWAK Core Committee, along with President Fayaz Hamid, expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the tragedy. “This attack has shaken the very conscience of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” the statement read. “It stands in stark contrast to the spirit of the Kashmiri people, who have always extended warmth and hospitality to tourists.”
President Fayaz Hamid urged members of the association to leverage their platforms to support those affected. In his memo, he appealed for unity and action, encouraging members to disseminate verified information and offer help wherever possible. He also emphasized that these acts of terror are not only a blow to peace but a deliberate attempt to undermine Kashmir’s tourism-driven economy.
The JWAK Core Committee extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and called upon the government to provide immediate assistance to those affected by the tragedy.
“This is not just an attack on individuals; it is an attack on Kashmir’s identity, humanity, and economic stability,” the statement concluded.
