Kupwara: A comprehensive market checking drive was carried out today at Sogam on the directions of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Lolab to ensure strict enforcement of price regulations and availability of quality essential commodities during the holy month of Ramzan.
The inspection team, led by Tehsildar Sogam Saqib Murtaza and accompanied by SHO Sogam Javeed Jan and TSO Sogam Gulzar Ahmad, conducted thorough inspections of various shops and business establishments. The team checked rate lists, verified the quality of food items, and monitored compliance with government guidelines to prevent overpricing and hoarding.
During the drive, violators were penalized, and a fine of ₹500 was imposed for non-compliance. Officials issued a clear warning that strict action will be taken against anyone found exploiting consumers during Ramzan.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to continue such inspections regularly to maintain market discipline, protect public interest, and ensure that essential goods are sold at fair prices.
