Srinagar: In its ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace in society, the police have arrested two drug peddlers in separate incidents in Srinagar and Handwara, seizing significant quantities of contraband substances.
In Srinagar, a police team from Police Station Soura, stationed at a checkpoint near SKIMS Chowk, intercepted a suspicious individual. Upon search, a large quantity of contraband substances was recovered. The individual was identified as Rouf Ahmed Zargar, son of Nazir Ahmed Zargar, a resident of Manigam, Ganderbal.
In a similar operation in Handwara, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Kralgund intercepted another suspect at a checkpoint in Resripora Kralgund. The individual, identified as Danish Ahmad Mir, son of Gh Hassan Mir, a resident of Kralgund, was found in possession of 110 grams of a charas-like substance.
Both individuals have been arrested, and cases under the relevant sections of the law have been registered at the respective police stations. Investigations are ongoing.
The police urge the public to report any incidents of drug peddling or other criminal activities by contacting their nearest police station or dialing 112. Authorities reassured the community of their commitment to taking strong action against criminals and working together with the public to eliminate the drug menace from society.
