Kupwara: In a continued effort to combat the growing threat of drug abuse, Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a drug de-addiction awareness program at Police Station Sogam on Tuesday.
According to a police spokesperson, the event was held as part of the calendar issued by District Police Headquarters, Kupwara.
The program was attended by local Imams and respected community members, who play a vital role in shaping public awareness and guiding the youth.
Addressing the gathering, Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad, SHO PS Sogam, emphasized the crucial role of the community in tackling drug abuse. He urged Imams to highlight the devastating effects of drugs in their Friday sermons, stressing the impact on individuals, families, and society.
Community members were also encouraged to share any specific information regarding drug abuse in their localities, ensuring timely intervention by law enforcement agencies.
