Karnah, March 3: A 16-year-old boy from Karnah, who was airlifted to Kupwara for medical treatment yesterday, tragically passed away at Children’s Hospital in Srinagar.
According to sources, the teenager was in critical condition and was shifted from Karnah to Kupwara due to the lack of advanced medical facilities in the remote region. Despite efforts, he could not be saved.
Now, the grieving family is facing another ordeal—bringing the deceased’s body back home. With Sadhna Top buried under heavy snowfall (7 feet total accumulation) and roads still uncleared, the family has urged authorities to either open the route immediately or arrange for air transport to return the body as soon as possible.
Locals and relatives have joined the plea, requesting swift action from the administration to ensure the teenager’s final rites can take place in his hometown. Officials are expected to review weather conditions and snow clearance operations before making a decision.
