Karnah Kupwara March 8: Marking International Women’s Day with a strong message of empowerment, Degree College Tangdhar hosted a special awareness event focused on career opportunities for women in the Armed Forces. The event, organized in collaboration with the Indian Army’s Shakti Vijay Brigade, aimed to inspire young women to break barriers and explore fulfilling careers in defense.
On the occasion, the college organized two extension lectures delivered by Deputy Commander 104, Shakti Vijay Brigade and Lieutenant Simran. They made students aware of the various career opportunities in the Armed Forces and shed light on different aspects of women empowerment in contemporary times. Their insights provided valuable guidance and motivation for young women aspiring to serve in defense services.
The Resource Persons highlighted the vast career prospects available to women in defense, including combat roles, leadership positions, and specialized fields such as aviation, engineering, medical services, and law. The speakers emphasized the increasing inclusivity in the Indian Armed Forces, underscoring the importance of diversity and gender equality. They also shared inspiring stories of women excelling in defense services, reinforcing the message that the military values dedication, skill, and courage above all.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, many of whom shared their perspectives on women’s empowerment and the evolving role of women in defense. Their insights reflected a growing awareness and enthusiasm about gender inclusivity in national security.
In recognition of academic excellence and leadership potential, Shakti Vijay Brigade felicitated ten outstanding students with cash prizes, encouraging them to aim high and pursue ambitious careers. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ashfaq Lone, appreciating the Army’s efforts in empowering the youth and fostering career aspirations among young women.
The event was moderated by Dr. Zahoor Ahmad,Lecturer, Department of History, GDC Tangdhar, ensuring a smooth and engaging discussion.
