Srinagar: An encounter has broken out between security forces and militants in Hiranagar area in Kathua.
News agency Kashmir Bulletin quoted officials as saying that upon receiving specific inputs about presence of militants in Sanyal area, the security forces cordoned off the area.
“As the security forces zeroed into the suspected site, the militants opened fire which was retaliated, triggering of an encounter,” the officials said.
“It is believed that several militants area trapped at the site,” the officials said, adding, “more forces are being rushed to the site to neutralise the hiding militants.”
