Karnah, Kupwara: The Indian Army’s Vajr Division and the Aseem Foundation have provided solar electricity and LPG kits to Simari, a remote border village in Jammu & Kashmir’s Karnah Valley. This initiative, under the Chinar Corps and the Government of India’s Vibrant Villages Programme, aims to improve basic living conditions in far-flung areas.
Located near the Line of Control, Simari had limited access to electricity and safe cooking facilities. Now, with solar microgrids and LPG distribution, all 53 households in the village have received access to clean energy.
The project is dedicated to the memory of Colonel Santosh Mahadik, who was martyred in the line of duty. His mother, Kalinda Mahadik, and Sarang Gosavi, founder of the Aseem Foundation, inaugurated the project on April 14, 2025.
More than 300 villagers, including local elders, women, children, and officials, attended the event.
