Kupwara: A massive plantation drive was carried out at Co.13 Kandi in Kupwara Range under the Kamraj Forest Division, where 2000 saplings were planted to promote environmental conservation.
The event witnessed the active participation of dignitaries, including DFO Kamraj Anurag Arya (IFS), Deputy Director FPF Javid Iqbal Sheikh, Arshiya Ojha (CEO of Creative CupCakes), and Range Officer Kupwara Mir Faizan Anwar. Local school students, residents, frontline forest staff, and Forest Protection Force (FPF) personnel also took part in the drive, emphasizing community involvement in afforestation efforts.
On the occasion, certificates and mementos were distributed among trekkers from Sopore, Baramulla, Srinagar, and Lolab to acknowledge their contributions. A special recognition award was presented to Ab Ahad Khan, popularly known as ‘Chinar Man,’ for his exceptional voluntary efforts in planting 2000 Chinar trees across North Circle.
The initiative aims to enhance green cover in the region, combat climate change, and encourage public participation in environmental conservation.
