Kupwara: The Indian Army organized two major outreach programmes in the remote areas of North Lolab, Kupwara, aimed at providing essential healthcare services to residents and veterinary support to livestock owners.
A Women’s Primary Health Camp was conducted at Krusan village, witnessing participation from over 300 women across seven nearby villages. In addition, 35 elderly male villagers also availed the services. The camp offered free medical consultations, gynecological check-ups, distribution of essential medicines, and health awareness sessions focusing on hygiene, nutrition, maternal care, and preventive healthcare.
The medical team, led by a female officer from the Indian Army, worked tirelessly to ensure each attendee received personal attention and guidance. Educational sessions on maternal and child health as well as management of lifestyle diseases were also conducted.
Villagers expressed gratitude towards the Indian Army, acknowledging the rare availability of such healthcare facilities in their remote region.
Meanwhile, to mark World Veterinary Day, the Indian Army organized an Animal Health Camp at Shrant and Varnau villages. More than 135 villagers participated, bringing their livestock for treatment.
Around 90 ill and weak animals were examined, treated, and vaccinated by the Army’s veterinary team. Furthermore, free medicines and nutritional supplements were distributed for over 850 animals, providing significant support to the livestock-dependent Gujjar and Bakarwal communities.
