Tangdhar: The Shakti Vijay Brigade conducted a large-scale Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally at Tangdhar today, which drew the participation of over 400 military veterans, their families, and officials from the Army and various civil departments.
The rally was organised to address the concerns and welfare needs of the veteran community in the far-flung Karnah region. Multiple grievances were registered during the event, many of which were resolved on the spot by the concerned authorities, while unresolved issues will be forwarded to higher authorities for timely redressal.
A key highlight of the rally was a virtual meeting through video conference with JAKRIF Record, where several service-related record issues were settled instantly, providing much-needed relief to the veterans.
The event saw the presence of senior officers and officials including Col Ravi, Col Veterans, Col Ajay Shekhawat, Director ECHS, Director Zila Sainik Board (ZSB), Lt Col Mahesh Kumar, CRO JAK LI Records, Maj Saleem, Record Officer JAK LI Records, the Deputy Commander Shakti Vijay Brigade Col Sudeep Bose , SDM Karnah Mr. Zaffar Ahmad Lone, SHO Tangdar , representatives from the Forest Department, SBI, J&K Bank, and Mohd Ismail Khan, Postmaster, Karnah, among others.
A special facilitation was arranged for all four Veer Naris, as well as families of battle casualties (non-fatal) and widows of physical casualties, who were honoured and supported by the 104 Shakti Vijay Brigade during the event.
In recognition of the role of the media in amplifying the voices of the veterans and providing extensive coverage of the event, appreciation awards were presented to media fraternity members including Kashmir News Service correspondent and print media journalist Peerzada Sayeed, DD News reporter Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, ANI correspondent Zubair Ahmad, and Aaj Tak reporter Dawood Ahmad.
Talking to the media, Dr. Ashfaq, a well-known socio-political analyst from Karnah, stated, “This programme was very good and was truly needed for a remote area like Karnah. I appreciate the organisers and everyone who deserved this recognition.”
