Jammu: Police have arrested two drug peddlers, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), in the Miran Sahib area of Jammu district, seizing 12 grams of heroin-like substance (commonly known as Chitta) in a late-night operation.
In a statement to GNS, the police confirmed that the arrests were made as part of Operation Sanjeevani, a significant initiative aimed at curbing drug trafficking. The two individuals were apprehended near Balol Bridge, Ring Road, Miran Sahib, following a police interception of a vehicle traveling from Samba to Akhnoor. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended by the officers.
The arrested individuals were identified as Irfan Hussain, a Special Police Officer posted at DPL Poonch (son of Matloob Hussain, resident of Galuta, Tehsil Mendhar) and Sajjad Hussain Shah (son of Sarfraz Hussain Shah, resident of Potha Surankot, District Poonch).
During the search of the vehicle, 12 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered. Following this, an FIR (No. 11/2025) under various sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib, and further investigations are ongoing.
Jammu Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating the drug menace and urges the public to report any suspicious activity. Authorities have assured that the identities of informants providing valuable leads will remain confidential.
