Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir – Security forces have recovered the body of a fourth police officer amid an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in Kathua district. So far, four police personnel have been martyred, while three terrorists have been killed in the encounter.
According to officials, the body of the fourth policeman was spotted with the help of a drone near the site of Thursday’s fierce gunfight in the dense forests. Joint teams of the police, army, and CRPF are conducting clearing operations in different directions.
On Thursday, three suspected Pakistani terrorists were neutralized in a heavy exchange of fire, during which three police officers were martyred, and seven others were injured, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police. The operation resumed this morning, focusing on recovering the bodies of the fallen officers and eliminating any remaining threats.
Security forces suspect that at least two more terrorists may still be hiding in the area, though their bodies have not yet been found. The operation is ongoing in the Ghati Jathana region near Jakhole village, where forces have intensified actions against infiltrators in recent days.
Officials believe the group of terrorists infiltrated through the Hiranagar sector along the International Border. During the search operation, security forces recovered weapons, explosives, bulletproof vests, and other equipment used by the militants.
The counter-terrorism operation is being overseen by Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti. The army has paid tribute to the brave police officers who lost their lives, vowing to honor their sacrifices forever.
