Srinagar: Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Atal Dulloo, today inaugurated multiple key patient care facilities at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening tertiary healthcare in the region
The Chief Secretary was welcomed by Prof M Ashraf Ganie, Director SKIMS and EOSG, in the presence of Prof Fazal Q Parray, Principal SKIMS Medical College Bemina, Sajad Naqib, Chief Engineer PWD R&B Central Kashmir, Er Bodh Raj from Mechanical and Hospital Directorate Kashmir, Dr Farooq A Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Prof Jaswinder Singh from the Department of Gastroenterology, Dr G H Yatoo, HOD Hospital Administration, along with other senior faculty members and administrative staff
The projects inaugurated include New Paying Wards, Lifts in the Private Ward, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Upgraded Private Ward, a Modern Washroom Complex, and an Attendant Inn Facility
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary lauded SKIMS for its outstanding healthcare services and its status as a leading institution in the region. He appreciated the timely execution of the projects under the leadership of Director SKIMS and assured full support from the government for future initiatives
He outlined a comprehensive vision for the institute which includes delivering high-quality healthcare by optimally utilizing the capabilities of staff and faculty, maintaining strict standards in patient care, expanding SKIMS as a premier healthcare institution, developing Centres of Excellence in clinical and research fields, producing highly skilled medical professionals, and strengthening the institute’s mentoring role for other medical colleges and hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir
Director SKIMS, Prof M Ashraf Ganie, presented a detailed account of the institution’s recent achievements which include infrastructure expansion, procurement of advanced medical equipment, and efficient utilization of available resources to improve patient-centric services
He expressed gratitude to the Chief Secretary for his valuable visit and continued guidance, adding that support from top leadership boosts the morale of the institution and inspires it to achieve greater excellence in medical service and innovation
