Srinagar: A fire incident occurred in the Out Patient Department (OPD) block of SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bemina, during the intervening night of November 28 and 29, causing damage to at least five faculty office rooms.
According to officials, the blaze was contained quickly due to the prompt intervention of Fire and Emergency Services units from JVC/VEER, along with the hospital’s security and engineering staff. Their quick response prevented the fire from spreading further.
The hospital confirmed that there was no loss of life or injury to patients, staff, or visitors.
Authorities stated that the affected section has been secured and normal operations have resumed. An FIR has been lodged with the local police, and an inquiry has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the fire.
The administration said it is assessing the situation and will take preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
