DOHA – After 15 months of relentless conflict that claimed tens of thousands of lives and devastated Gaza, a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and Hamas, according to an official involved in the negotiations.
The deal, brokered by Egyptian and Qatari mediators with U.S. support, includes a six-week ceasefire phase, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and a prisoner exchange involving hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian detainees in Israel.
This breakthrough comes amid mounting international pressure, with U.S.
President-elect Donald Trump intensifying efforts to resolve the crisis. The deal also follows significant military operations, including targeted assassinations of key leaders by Israel, which shifted the power dynamics in the region.
Stay tuned for updates as the agreement is finalized and voted upon by the Israeli government.
