Kupwara: Kupwara Police scored significant victories in the fight against drug abuse with the recovery of contraband substances in two separate operations conducted on January 7, 2025. The swift action demonstrates the police’s commitment to keeping the district free from illegal substances and safeguarding the community.
In the first operation, conducted at approximately 6:10 PM, a vigilant police team from Police Post Drugmulla intercepted a suspicious individual at a checkpoint in Mutipora Drugmulla. The man, identified as Amir Rashid Lone of Drugmulla, was found in possession of 18 grams of charas. A case has been registered under FIR No. 07/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act, and further investigations are underway.
Earlier that evening, at around 5:20 PM, another team from Khumriyal Police Station apprehended two individuals during a routine checkpoint operation. Identified as Javeed Ahmad Ahanger and Arshed Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Lolab, they were found carrying 25 grams of charas. A case under FIR No. 06/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been lodged, and investigations are ongoing.
