Kupwara: In a significant step towards strengthening rural governance, Lalpora has become the first tehsil in the district to distribute SVAMITVA Property Cards to its residents under the Government of India’s flagship scheme.
The distribution event was held at the DC Office Complex under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner handed over the property cards to beneficiaries of Lalpora, in the presence of the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) and Tehsildar Lalpora.
Officials stated that Lalpora Tehsil Office worked diligently to complete all necessary groundwork, thereby enabling it to achieve this milestone ahead of other tehsils in the district.
The SVAMITVA Scheme, implemented through modern drone‑based surveys, provides villagers with legal ownership of their land. The initiative aims to streamline revenue records, reduce land disputes, and make it easier for people to access institutional credit.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the district administration, especially the Lalpora Tehsil Office, for the timely implementation of the scheme.
With this development, Lalpora has set an example for other tehsils in the district to follow.
