Karnah, Kupwara: For the first time, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the border town of Karnah, conducting a crucial review meeting at the Mini-Secretariat Tangdar. The high-level meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, and officials from about 20 key departments, reflecting a strong administrative presence aimed at addressing local concerns. During his visit, LG Sinha met with local delegations that presented a series of important demands aimed at improving the quality of life in the border region.
A delegation led by Beoparmandal President Haji Tasleem Mir, representing the business community of Karnah, demanded immediate compensation for shopkeepers whose infrastructure and goods were damaged during recent cross-border incidents. The delegation stressed the need for swift financial aid to help shopkeepers recover their losses and restore their businesses. Simultaneously, a separate delegation led by Asif Mir of Civil Society Karnah highlighted the need for the upgradation of hospital facilities, construction of protective bunkers, and relief for families whose houses were damaged due to shelling. The delegation also raised concerns about the lack of fire service vehicles, which poses a significant risk during emergencies.
LG Manoj Sinha listened attentively to the demands and assured both delegations that their issues would be prioritised. He emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing safety measures, infrastructure development, and relief distribution for the affected residents of Karnah.
