Kupwara, Oct 20: Villagers in Dappal, located in the Machil sector of Kupwara district, continue to face healthcare challenges due to a shortage of medical personnel and limited facilities at their local health centre.
According to locals, the absence of specialized medical staff has made healthcare particularly difficult for women. Patients often have to travel long distances under challenging conditions, and during winters, heavy snowfall can completely cut off access to nearby health centres, putting lives at risk.
When contacted, CMO Kupwara, Dr. Masrat Iqbal, clarified, “There is no post of a gynecologist at this sub-centre. Only a pharmacist and FMPHW/MMPHW staff are posted. Currently, staff are being arranged on a rotational basis, and inshallah, there will be no problem in providing essential services”.
Residents, however, continue to appeal for improvements to the health centre’s facilities to ensure timely and proper medical care for the more than 3,000 people living in the area.
