Keran, Kupwara: In a moment of immense pride for the remote border belt of Keran and Naga, three NCC cadets — Karmat Khan, Kamran Meer, and Abrar Lone — have secured selection in the Agniveer Indian Army Recruitment, marking a historic milestone for the region.
The achievement has sparked widespread celebration, with locals describing it as a defining moment for the youth of the area, long known for its resilience and determination despite challenging geographical conditions.
Senior citizens, teachers, and social activists have lauded the crucial role played by the Indian Army, particularly the 06 Rashtriya Rifles (SIKH) Battalion, Keran, in guiding and mentoring the young aspirants. The battalion’s consistent support, discipline-driven environment, and structured training were widely credited for shaping the cadets’ success.
The 268 Pharkan Brigade also extended warm felicitations to the trio, reiterating its ongoing commitment to empowering the youth across border villages by providing platforms for growth, awareness, and nation-building.
Residents of Keran expressed profound gratitude to both the NCC and the Indian Army, acknowledging that their presence has significantly influenced the lives of local youngsters. Community members noted that NCC activities have helped steer youth away from drugs and other harmful influences, instead opening pathways to meaningful careers and national service.
As celebrations continue, many in Keran believe this achievement will inspire more young people from the region to pursue disciplined, purposeful futures, carrying forward the spirit of service and dedication exemplified by the three newly selected Agniveer recruits.
