Handwara: A severe shortage of clean drinking water has left the residents of Rakh Shahlal Harnipura in distress for over a week. Despite repeated complaints to the concerned department, no action has been taken to restore the supply, forcing locals to rely on melted snow and rainwater for their daily needs.
Residents told our correspondent that despite informing the officials and employees of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, no steps have been taken to repair the damaged pipelines or make alternative arrangements. Frustration is growing as people struggle without access to this basic necessity.
“It has been more than a week, yet no official has come forward to address the issue. We are left with no choice but to use water from recent snowfall and rains,” a local resident lamented.
Expressing their anger, the residents have strongly criticized the PHE department for its negligence. They have urged authorities to take immediate action, especially during this holy month, and have appealed to Tehsildar Handwara to take suo motu notice of the crisis.
