Kupwara: Kamraj Forest Division, Kupwara, of Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department marked International Women’s Day 2025 with a series of plantation drives across North Lolab Range, Kupwara Range, Sogam Range, Kandi Range, and Special Range. The event witnessed active participation from school children and women, emphasizing the role of women in environmental conservation.
During the celebrations, various indigenous and eco-friendly species were planted to enhance green cover and promote ecological balance. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of afforestation and sustainability, particularly among young minds and women, who play a vital role in community-driven conservation efforts.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kamraj, Anurag Arya, IFS, highlighted the significance of the event, at DPL Kupwara,stating:
“Women have always been at the forefront of conservation efforts. This initiative symbolizes our commitment to fostering environmental stewardship among the younger generation and encouraging women’s participation in sustainable development. By planting trees today, we are sowing the seeds for a greener and healthier future for all.”
