Kupwara:Following the terror attack in Pahalgam recently, where the entire valley was left shivering with pain, people in Keran, a far-off border hamlet along the LoC, held a peaceful protest to condemn the gruesome act and express their iron-clad faith in peace.
Carrying candles and placards, residents gathered in Nakula of Keran to offer their respect to the attack victims. Characterized by quiet prayers and emotive speeches, the protest stood as a resounding reminder of the area’s resilience and aspiration for permanent tranquility.
We, Keran’s people, mourn innocent lives lost and strongly condemn the cowardly and inhumane act, went a joint protesters’ statement. Our non-violent demo at the LoC is our declaration that terror has no room in our hearts, homes, or homeland.
Participants such as elders, women, and youth conveyed that residing on the frontlines has taught them the real price of violence. Their message was cut and dry: they desire not revenge, but peace; not fear, but hope.
In unity, we find strength; in peace, we regain our purpose,” read one of the protest banners.
