Kupwara: A devastating fire broke out late last night at a grocery shop in the Bhramdori area of Batpora around 10:30 PM, quickly spreading to nearby homes. The rapid response by Hamdard-e-Kupwara (41 RR), following an alert from the local Sarpanch, played a crucial role in safely evacuating all residents and coordinating with local authorities.
Fire engines from Kupwara and Payarpora were dispatched immediately, with two additional engines arriving from Trehgam and Kupwara by 12:15 AM. The combined efforts of the Kupwara Fire Brigade, the Indian Army, and local residents brought the fire under control, completely extinguishing it by 2:30 AM.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, and no animals were harmed. However, the fire caused extensive damage to four houses, one shop, and one animal shelter, leaving significant losses in personal property.
