Nouakchott— The Mauritanian government has strongly denied widespread rumors claiming that a plane carrying Hajj pilgrims from Mauritania had crashed off the Red Sea coast.
El Waly Taha, Director of Hajj at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, confirmed that the reports are baseless and clarified that all Mauritanian pilgrims have safely arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj without any mishaps.
Supporting the government’s statement, Mauritania Airlines also dismissed the crash claims, confirming that all flights transporting pilgrims were conducted safely and without incident. The airline noted that three outbound flights were operated for this year’s pilgrimage season, all of which reached their destination without any problems.
