Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has expressed disappointment over Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address to the Legislative Assembly. She criticized the speech, stating that it failed to address the real issues of the Kashmiri people.
“We were hoping the LG would speak about the demands and concerns of the people of Kashmir. Unfortunately, this address was no different from what previous governors have said since the abrogation of Article 370,” Mehbooba said during a press conference.
She also took a dig at the National Conference (NC)-led government, alleging that their actions were indirectly endorsing the decisions taken by the Centre post-Article 370 abrogation.
“The issues of J&K residents go beyond Article 370. The people gave their mandate to NC to safeguard their rights—be it jobs, land, or human rights. However, their governance so far has not reflected that commitment,” she remarked.
Referring to NC’s criticism of PDP’s past coalition with the BJP, Mehbooba defended her party, stating that despite the alliance, PDP ensured its agenda remained a priority.
