Karnah, Kupwara: In the aftermath of the devastating fire that reduced the historic Dar-ul-Mominat Madrasa at Kandi, Karnah, to ashes, MLA Karnah, Mr. Javaid Mirchal, personally visited the site and expressed solidarity with the institution’s Chairman, Haji Shabir Ahmed Turk Sahib, and the grieving community.
The madrasa, which for over three decades served as a beacon of Islamic learning and spiritual guidance, was completely gutted in the blaze, causing massive financial losses and leaving the valley in deep sorrow.
During his visit, MLA Mirchal assured Haji Shabir Ahmed Turk Sahib that every possible effort would be made to help rebuild the institution. He emphasized that the district administration would be approached for necessary assistance, and pledged his personal support in ensuring that relief measures are expedited.
“I will speak to the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara so that aid from the district level is provided at the earliest. Whatever is possible from my side, I will do to ensure the madrasa stands on its feet again,” the MLA said.
Earlier, the Indian Army’s Thunderbolt Gunners, Fire & Emergency Services personnel, and local volunteers had played a crucial role in controlling the inferno, preventing it from spreading to nearby houses. Locals have widely hailed the Army’s courageous efforts.
President Beopar Mandal Karnah and Private Secretary to MLA Karnah, Haji Tasleem Mir, also stood in solidarity with the madrasa authorities, appealing to well-off residents of Karnah to contribute generously towards its reconstruction.
