Pulwama: In a remarkable display of medical expertise, doctors at District Hospital Pulwama saved the lives of a critically ill pregnant woman and her unborn child, highlighting the power of teamwork and timely intervention.
The patient, suffering from severe heart failure due to a high-risk pregnancy, was rushed to the hospital in a life-threatening condition. A specialized team, including Obstetrician Dr. Liza Rafiq, Cardiologist Dr. Taufiq Johan, and Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Tak, immediately sprang into action, supported by skilled paramedics.
The team swiftly initiated treatment for heart failure and pregnancy-induced hypertension while coordinating with specialists at Lal Ded (LD) Hospital in Srinagar. Recognizing the urgency, the patient was stabilized with nitroglycerin infusion and high-flow oxygen therapy (CPAP) before being transferred to LD Hospital in a 108 ambulance under the supervision of a senior Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
At LD Hospital, the patient received priority care in the ICU and was placed on life support. Thanks to the relentless efforts of the medical teams, she gradually stabilized and was successfully weaned off intensive care, recovering alongside her healthy newborn.
Dr. Tak expressed gratitude, stating, “This case was a testament to teamwork, rapid intervention, and the dedication of our medical staff. We are thankful to Almighty Allah, the patient’s family, and the support of the Medical Superintendent and CMO Pulwama.”
