Srinagar: The Department of General Medicine at SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, organized a comprehensive awareness program on World Hypertension Day aimed at educating the public about hypertension and promoting preventive healthcare.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Tariq Bhat, In-Charge Head of the Department, who emphasized the importance of timely diagnosis, effective treatment, and regular monitoring in managing hypertension.
Principal Prof. Dr. Fazl Q. Paray and Registrar Academics Prof. Dr. Ajaz Rather delivered keynote speeches highlighting hypertension as a growing public health concern and underscored the need for lifestyle modifications.
A key highlight of the event was an expert lecture on Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) by Dr. Muzafar Naik. He pointed out that SKIMS Medical College is the only institution in the region providing this advanced diagnostic service, demonstrating the college’s commitment to cutting-edge patient care.
The program also featured a student symposium on various aspects of hypertension, judged by a faculty panel including Dr. Muzafar Naik, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, and Dr. Ahad Wani. Outstanding presentations were awarded prizes, encouraging academic engagement.
Senior Resident Dr. Rozia Bukhari efficiently moderated and anchored the event.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad extended heartfelt thanks to the organizing committee, faculty, students, and staff for their contributions to the program’s success.
