Kupwara : In a shocking event, a woman was attacked by a mendicant with a knife in her house in Lolab area of Kupwara district.
According to reports, the incident took place at the residence of Tahir Ahmad Wani when an unidentified person entered the house under the pretense of seeking alms. However, in a sudden turn of events, the suspect attacked Wani’s wife, stabbing her in the chest. Hearing her screams, neighbors rushed to the scene, but the assailant managed to flee.
The woman was rushed to SDH Sogam, where her condition has been confirmed by doctors as stable and she is being treated.
In the meantime, the police have initiated a manhunt to locate the assailant. Talking to Spotlight, a police spokesperson said, “We are searching for the suspect and will make sure he is arrested quickly. People do not need to panic but should exercise caution.”
Authorities also called on residents to help identify the suspect to speed up the investigation.
