Kupwara – In a continued crackdown on illegal activities, the Kupwara Police apprehended a bootlegger and seized 37 bottles of illicit liquor during a routine naka checking operation. The arrest was made by a team from Police Post Kalaroos near the Fire Service Station Kalaroos.
The individual, identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Khizar Ahmad Bhat and a resident of Kalaroos, was intercepted and searched by the police team. During the search, 37 bottles of illegal liquor were recovered from his possession.
Following the recovery, a case (FIR No. 37/2025) under Section 50 of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
The Kupwara Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against those involved in illegal activities and maintaining a crime-free society. The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious or illegal activities to the police.
Authorities have encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and assist in curbing the menace of illicit liquor and other unlawful practices in the region.
