Handwara: In a significant step towards curbing drug menace, Handwara Police have arrested two drug peddlers and seized contraband from their possession.
Acting on specific inputs, police set up a checkpoint at Champora Crossing, where they intercepted two individuals—Mohammed Gulzar Mir of Amargarh Sharkoot and Faisal Ahmed Mir of Manzgam. Upon conducting a personal search, authorities recovered 62 grams of a charas-like substance from them.
Both individuals were taken into custody and shifted to Police Station Villgam for further investigation. A case has been registered under relevant legal provisions, and a probe is underway.
Handwara Police urge citizens to support their anti-drug initiative by reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or by dialing 112. The department remains committed to taking strict action against drug-related crimes and ensuring a safer, drug-free community.
