Kundian: A three-day celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas began today at Government High School Kundian, organised by the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, Keran. The event was formally inaugurated by the Company Commander of the Battalion and aims to honour the sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to mark India’s victory over Pakistani infiltrators in the Kargil sector. The celebrations in Kundian are being held to instill patriotism and awareness about the Indian Army’s valour among students and the local community.
The first day featured a special screening of the film ‘Shershaah’, based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. The screening left a deep impact on the students, highlighting the themes of courage, sacrifice, and national pride.
Personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles interacted with the students, sharing personal stories from the battlefield and encouraging the youth to contribute positively to the nation. Patriotic slogans echoed through the venue as students engaged in discussions about the Kargil War and the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces.
The celebration will continue till July 14, with activities including cultural performances, debates, and a display of military equipment and gallantry stories.
