Karnah: In a significant visit to the border town of Karnah, MLA Handwara and Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Ghani Lone, accompanied by DDC Chairman Kupwara Irfan Pandithpori, met with local residents to discuss the challenges faced by the community, particularly those living along the Line of Control (LoC).
During his address to the media, Sajad Ghani Lone expressed his deep empathy for the people of the Pahari border regions, acknowledging their resilience and the hardships they endure due to ongoing cross-border tensions. “I know the pain of Pahari border people; they are frontier warriors who bear the brunt of cross-border hostilities,” Lone remarked, emphasizing the unique struggles faced by the residents of these vulnerable areas.
Lone underscored the urgent need for individual-level bunkers for families possessing land and community bunkers to safeguard local populations during times of shelling and military escalations. He further committed to taking up this critical issue with the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and pledged to voice the community’s concerns in the upcoming sessions of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly.
He stated, “Our people deserve safety and protection. It is my responsibility to ensure that the demand for bunkers is heard and addressed. I will not only request the Chief Minister but will also advocate strongly in the Assembly for their immediate construction.”
Meanwhile, DDC Chairman Irfan Pandithpori echoed Lone’s sentiments, expressing solidarity with the border communities and highlighting the need for enhanced safety measures. He promised continuous efforts to bring development projects and security infrastructure to the region.
